You know the saying "love what you do and you won't work a day in your life"?
This is exactly how I feel about photography.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Communication in 2016. My first corporate role was in downtown Auckland as an Internal Communications Advisor. One month into my twelve month contract, my role was dissolved and I was made redundant. At the time, I felt devastated, but looking back, it was the best redirection I could have possibly asked for.
Photography was one of my creative outlets from a very young age. It brought me a lot of happiness and it wasn't something I'd considered as a career until my wonderful Mum suggested that I try to make something of it. I didn't really take her seriously, nor did I think anyone would pay me to take photos for them. But you know what I did?
I trusted in her belief that I could do it.
10 years later, I am still doing what I love.
I've worked with a range of amazing clients here in New Zealand and overseas in the UK and Europe. I've had my work showcased on the back of buses, on billboards, in magazines, newspapers and books. I've been trusted to capture the most important day of a couples' life, for the early days of a new pregnancy journey, through to first steps and 5th birthdays. I've been part of peoples' business journeys, guiding them in how they want to represent themselves visually to the world.
And what an absolute privilege it is to be chosen for these moments.
